Emerging Mental Health Crisis

one candle lighting another

We often hear about a mental health crisis on the news, by politicians and others when there was a mass shooting, an attack on a person or a business, etc. But there is an Emerging Mental Health Crisis on the way. If we look closely enough, we’ll see that it’s already here!

With the Affordable Care Act subsidies not being renewed by Congress in December 2025, there are many who already have declared that they cannot afford the doubling, tripling or in some cases the quadrupling of their monthly health insurance premiums. We have no idea of just how many people that will impact. But, especially for those with pre-existing medical illnesses, it sounds like doom! But now, we fear there will be even more folks without mental health insurance coverage.

What will our communities look like and how will it feel for those who are sick and have no health insurance coverage? More stress, more illness and much more mental illness in the forms of depression, anxiety, trauma etc. And what about their families? We would like to put out this reminder: mental health treatment can keep many of a person’s private issues from becoming public troubles. Or said differently, supporting individuals who are struggling
builds stronger communities.

We’ve said it before and its worth repeating: Our community needs your help! We serve the uninsured and the underinsured. Our vision is for everyone in our community to have the tools to thrive. We are working earnestly to fill the gaps. But we can’t do this alone! Especially not with the emerging mental health crisis!

We call on funders, corporations, the well to do, and those of meager means, to the hopeful, to all people of good will, those who want to help but don’t know how they can. Please, press the donate button on this page and join with us in responding to the new emerging mental
health crisis.
