Marcia Hidalgo Velez

Marcia was born and raised in Coquimbo, Chile. After her elementary, high school and undergraduate courses of study, she
graduated with a Masters in Engineering from La Universidad Tecnica del Estado. She immigrated to the United States in
1980. She received a B.A. in Bilingual Education from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York, and received her Masters
in Counseling from Bridgeport University.

Marcia has been in the helping professions since 1986 in Connecticut. Her area of concentration has been in working with the Latino Community, Domestic Violence survivors and perpetrators, and children who witnessed domestic violence. She has experience working with unaccompanied children and families who crossed the border from other Latin American countries. She is currently retired, but is actively working with the Latino Community.
